January 14th: Work Boundaries vs Home Boundaries
Over the last 14 plus days I've been working semi-diligently to get my apartment organized and cleaned up that I will be able to easily pack, and move come April/May. In order to do this, I can't be working 15 hours a day and on the weekends. Prior to this week, I had been doing decently well keeping work during working hours and having time to tidy while I wasn't working. This week however, I had to through some unplanned appointments into my schedule and making those adjustments while meeting my work hours, not my strong suit. Needless to say, I worked long hours going straight up until exhaustion hit and I was ready to crash for the night. It was brutal but honestly what I expect from this time of the year.
For accomplishing my to do list for the week pretty much what remains is tidying a few things that I'm not mentally ready to decide on, and some of my "fun for me" activities. I really hope that since I put in a few hours today, I'll be able to take an hour each evening and accomplish either a tidy spot, or one of my fun projects. It's a work in progress, since my boundaries at work are practically nonexistent, and therefore I spend extra hours doing my own work after helping others with theirs or answering questions. I did manage to get one personal project done today along with some fun reading. I really needed to rest this weekend as the exhaustion has been returning. Thankfully it's more mental fatigue at the moment and not as much my body doesn't want to be functioning though there was a bit of that on Friday.
For my walking challenge, my average not including today is slightly above 2.5 miles a day for movement. This thrills me, though I need to work on spreading it out throughout the day instead of pacing my apartment from 9-10:30/11 each night. That might help with the exhaustion too! Maybe I ought to pause writing this post to get walking since I've got just under 2 miles needed to get todays movement to 2.5 miles. I'd also really like to start a project this evening, so it can be finished sooner rather than later granted it probably isn't needed until Father's Day, sometimes it's nice to give a just because gift instead (or rather for my own sanity as this case may be). Lastly, I'd like to get another hour of reading in so guess I should wrap this up asap.
Once again, the promised snow, did not occur but we did get a nice windstorm that had me wondering if the tree outside my window was going to be inside my apartment before the night was over. Today there were a few flurries that melted within 30-45 seconds of touching the ground. Though Tuesday we are listed on multiple weather forecast sites to get snow, and according to the weather alert that just came in possibly even tonight into tomorrow! I really would like some snow!!!
Here's to hoping for snow, getting things accomplished, and keeping boundaries this coming week.
